Peter Junior from the Viscount Project Team at the Flugausstellung Aviation Museum at Hermeskeil, near Trier, Germany is URGENTLY trying to locate a forward baggage hold door for their Viscount D-ANAM c/n 368. Sadly this aircraft has suffered heavy corrosion to the lower airframe due to an animal living in the fuselage.

Much work needs to be done to bring the aircraft back to a presentable condition. Several sections of the lower skin need to be replaced together with components like the front and rear baggage hold doors. A rear baggage hold door has been found however locating a replacement front baggage hold door is proving to be much more difficult.

D-ANAM was built for Lufthansa and first flew from Weybridge, England on Wednesday 8 April 1959. Its operational life ended in July 1970 when Lufthansa started using it for apprentice training at Hamburg, Germany. In October 1976 it was moved to the Flugausstellung Aviation Museum for preservation.

Peter has been working on the Viscount for several decades and has located many components including engines. Eventually he would like to re-paint the aircraft in its original Lufthansa livery.

If you are able to help the Flugausstellung Aviation Museum locate a forward baggage hold door then please contact Peter Junior by clicking this link. For more information about the Museum visit the Flugausstellung web site .
