It is still awaiting the No.1 propeller and the other three are in the 'featered' position, which is how they are installed.

They must all be 'unfeathered' hydraulically using the electrical feathering pump installed on each Rolls-Royce Dart engine, and moved to the 'ground fine pitch' position before the engines can be started or a turbine overtemp situation will occur.

October 1982

Purchased from All Nippon Airways (ANA). Taken at Mariscal Lamar International Airport, Azuay Province, Ecuador 8 October 1982.

During a long and fast landing on runway 23 in wet weather the pilot realised that the aircraft was not going to stop in time so he elected to steer the aircraft off of the righthand side of the runway.

The starboard undercarriage dug into the soft ground and the starboard wing hit the ground spinning the aircraft round in an anti-clockwise direction until it was facing the side of the runway.

Both starboard propellers were damaged and the starboard Dart engines were shockloaded.

There was also considerable structural damage to the starboard wing.

The insurance company declared it as beyond economic repair and it was written off.

This photo shows a striking resemblence to a photograph of the accident to HC-ART (C/N 288) which was at the same airport but twelve years earlier.
