Delivered new to Trans-Australia Airlines (TAA) named 'McDouall Stuart'. Taken at Wisley Airfield, Surrey, England in June 1959 shortly before delivery.

Note the integral front 'airsteps'.

The BEA V.751 Vanguard G-APEA in the background went to Montreal in Canada in July 1959 for a successful demonstration to Trans-Canada Air Lines.

Note the tail to fuselage profile that was later changed to include a fillet.

It was eventually delivered to BEA in the later 'Red Square' livery 27 March 1961.

The No.4 propeller has been removed and the engine is being worked on.

The yellow maintenance crane in the background is probably going to be used to change the engine which was normally a four hour / two man job.
