January 1959

Delivered new to ANSETT-ANA. Taken at Hurn Airport, Bournemouth, Hampshire, England in January 1959 on the production line in the Erecting Shop with the tail being painted.

The aircraft behind is CF-TIF (C/N 386) for TCA and the others further ahead are G-APNE (C/N 403) for Airwork Ltd, VH-RMG (C/N 414) for Ansett and G-APND (C/N 402) for Airwork Ltd.

Lindsay was sent over by Ansett for six months to oversee the final construction of VH-RMG and flew home on it.

This line-up demonstrates the mix of C/N found in one line of aircraft being built.

Delivered new to ANSETT-ANA. Taken at Hurn Airport, Bournemouth, Hampshire, England in March 1959 during the engine ground running phase.

Note the integral front 'airsteps' and that the rear cabin door has not yet been painted.

There is a large Vickers-Armstrongs logo on the front door and a small one at the top of the tail.

The delivery crew are photographed on the integral front 'airsteps' and consisted of Captains Rod Pyke, Jack McAllister and Raymond Grocott with First Officer / Navigator Hank Hasselo and Engineer Ralph Cooper (in the suit).

A nice view of the No.1 Rolls-Royce Dart engine nacelle with the very distinctive livery addition.

Delivered new to ANSETT-ANA. Taken at Eagle Farm Airport, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia circa September 1966 with an ANSETT-ANA Boeing 727-77 landing.

Note the smoking Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines at flight idle which is now a thing of the past on modern engines.

This 'A' livery was never adopted on the Viscount.

The registration on the Viscount cannot be confirmed therefore the photo has been allocated here because of the nice comparison between the two aircraft types.

It is painted up in Far Eastern Air Transport Corporation (FAT) livery without titles and with VH-RMH applied for the delivery flight.

The FAT titles were applied after arrival.
