Delivered new to British European Airways (BEA) named 'R M A Edmund Cartwright'. Taken at Weybridge, Surrey, England in October 1957 on the production line in the Erecting Shop.

The aircraft in front is G-APDW (C/N 258) which was originally going to be G-AOYI for BEA before being completed for Eagle Airways Ltd.

April 1958

Delivered new to British European Airways (BEA) named 'R M A Edmund Cartwright'. Taken landing at Renfrew Airport, Glasgow, Scotland 7 April 1958 with an Aer Lingus Douglas DC-3 awaiting its turn to take off.

Note the very accurate sign, but why is it there as it is clearly next to a boundary fence!

The airport closed in May 1966 when nearby Abbottsinch was rebuilt as a modern commercial airport.

The BEA Viscount behind has already been repainted in the later 'Red Square' livery.

Leased from British European Airways (BEA). Taken at Teversham Airport, Cambridge, England in August 1966 undergoing maintenance with Marshall's.

It is about to carry out ground running of the Rolls-Royce Dart engines in a dedicated area with a grass embankment nearby to help reduce the noise levels.

Leased from British European Airways (BEA). Taken at Heathrow Airport, London, England circa May 1968 with temporary 'The Malta Airlines' logos applied to the ex Cyprus Airways livery for services to Luqa from Heathrow.

Quite a smart combination particularly with the logo on the tail.

Does anyone know when this aircraft was operated in this livery combination?

Purchased from British European Airways (BEA) and named 'Garuda Mataram'. Taken landing at Abbotsinch Airport, Glasgow, Scotland 16 April 1970 after an air test prior to acceptance.

It finally left Heathrow Airport 16 May 1970 on delivery to Indonesia.
