It first flew on Tuesday, 22 October 1957 at Hurn, Bournemouth, Hampshire, England powered by Rolls-Royce Dart 510 engines.


During its life this aircraft was also owned and/or operated by
Cyprus Airways Ltd, Middle East Airlines (MEA), Jordan Airways, Middle East Airlines (MEA) / Air Liban, Overseas Holidays & Aircraft Hire (Pty), Air Rhodesia, Swazi Air, Air Botswana, United Air, Air Zimbabwe and Filair

Its fate:-
Purchased from Filair by Trans Service Airlift 1 March 1991. Noted at Ndolo Airport, Kinshasa, Republic of Zaire still in service 1 April 1996. Reportedly seen gun running at Pointe Noire, Republic of the Congo 1 October 1997. Trans Service Airlift ceased operations and the fate of this aircraft is currently unknown.

and the 178th Viscount assembled at Hurn, Bournemouth, Hampshire, England.
