It first flew on Wednesday, 10 April 1957 at Hurn, Bournemouth, Hampshire, England powered by Rolls-Royce Dart 510 engines.


During its life this aircraft was also owned and/or operated by
Vickers-Armstrongs (Aircraft) Ltd, Trans-Australia Airlines (TAA), Philippine Air Lines (PAL), Falconair Charter AB, Malmö Aero AB and Skyline Sweden AB

Its fate:-
Converted to V.784D in 1959. Withdrawn from service by Skyline Sweden AB and stored at Sturup Airport, Malmö, Sweden in August 1976. Broken up for scrap in March 1978. The forward fuselage section was saved and donated to the Malmö Technical Museum, Sweden.

Capital Airlines Viscounts had integral front 'airsteps' fitted from new and now with weather radar fitted during the construction.

The sale to Capital Airlines with fleet number ‘383’ was not completed and the aircraft remained the property of Vickers-Armstrongs (Aircraft) Ltd.

It was fully painted in Capital Airlines livery.

Fleet number '383' was later used on Viscount C/N 231.
