Delivered new to British European Airways (BEA) named 'R M A William Dampier'. Taken at London Airport (Heathrow), Middlesex, England in June 1956.

Note the No.4 engine is a Rolls-Royce Dart Mark 505 with original style propeller whereas the No.3 engine has the ‘new’ style propeller and is probably an upgraded Dart Mark 506 engine.

A mix of engines was permitted until the whole fleet was upgraded which took some time.

Note that the Decca 'sharks fin' navigation aerial on the tail has now been removed.

This airport closed 2 May 1966 with the opening of the nearby Abbotsinch Airport.

Purchased from British European Airways (BEA) and re-registered from G-ANHD. Taken at London Airport (Heathrow), Middlesex, England in April 1963 still looking grubby after enduring a winter outside.

There are still piles of snow in the background after the worst winter in the UK since 1795. Even the River Thames and the sea off the Kent coast froze!

Purchased from British European Airways (BEA) and re-registered from G-ANHD. Taken at London Airport (Heathrow), Middlesex, England in April 1963 together with two other Viscounts just before delivery.

Note the yellow protective coating to the lower fuselage polished areas.

The aircraft sale had originally taken place in August 1962 but for unknown reasons it took until 1963 to be completed.
